EXERCISE AND FALLS PREVENTION
Basic gentle exercise and strengthening classes are taught by qualified volunteers at various times and places on our campus. A popular regular class is given on Yoga, for example. These exercises are designed to keep you healthy, well and secure at home. (Programs delivered in partnership with One Care Home and Community Support Services.)
A mobility bus is available that can accommodate up to four wheelchairs and up to 18 walk-on passengers; we have developed local programs to enable seniors and others without transportation to have access to social, recreational and wellness programs, as well as to run other necessary errands such as going to the pharmacy and buying groceries. (Programs delivered in partnership with One Care Home and Community Support Services.)
MEALS ON WHEELS
Meals from the West Huron Care Centre are delivered by volunteers on Monday to Friday each week. The meals consist of a hot entree, salad and dessert.
The West Huron Care Centre has access to a foot care specialist who can be booked by appointment only. Call for further information.
The Cardiovascular Health Assessment Program is run by volunteers at various locations in Bluewater. It's a great way to monitor your blood pressure while socializing with your friends and neighours.
Socialization and a good lunch twice a month at the West Huron Care Centre. There are often education presentations on topics relevant to seniors' health issues, and always good companionship. The 2nd, 4th and 5th (if occurring) Wednesdays of the month.
CHURCH SERVICES / PASTORAL CARE
Area Church leaders provide interdenominational services every Wednesday and Sunday, and Mass every Thursday, in the Blue Water Rest Home Chapel.
Salon services are available at the West Huron Care Centre by appointment.
We operate a self-pay respite bed that provides an opportunity for those in the community who care for a family member at home to take a rest. For more information, please call the Home.
GOOD FOOD BOX
A Good Food Box contains a selection of fresh produce, recipes and food information. Order on the 1st Friday of the month and pick up on the 3rd Friday.
Through a generous grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation, we have installed a therapeutic bathing facility which is fully accessible through our north entrance.
Some funding for Community Support Services is provided by the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care under a Multi-Sector Services Accountability Agreement (MSAA) with the South West Local Health Integration Network - (CLICK HERE). Fees for unfunded services are subject to change.
